Book in focus: The Intelligent Investor

The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham was first published by Benjamin Graham in 1949. This book has been acknowledged globally as the greatest investment advisor of the twentieth century and has taught and inspired people worldwide. The book touches on the concept of ‘value investing’ which shields investors from making substantial errors in their investing journey. This book plays a large role in the importance of building strategies and investing smartly.
According to the author, there are two types of intelligent investors: enterprising investors and defensive investors.
The Intelligent Investor also introduces the concept of Margin of Safety recommending the investor to have a bigger Margin of Safety and buy it really cheap.
What makes this book stand apart is the concept of “home bias”: investing in “what I know”. This makes an investor lazy and complacent as they might already know the market and thus slip up on basic nuances.
If you are looking to jump into the world of investing and go behind the scenes of what runs in the minds of ‘intelligent investors’, this book could be the perfect starter.
